Know your seniority date.

It is important that you know your seniority date. In a union shop seniority is your most valuable asset, it is used to determine vacation picks, days off, and job assignments.

The names listed here are your brothers, don't turn your back on them.

Please try to remember that as a union member you are part of a brotherhood. Your actions may affect more than just yourself, we all need to do what is right for the group not just ourselves. Selfishness doesn't help the cause.

I have completed gathering names of drivers who want to be added to the transfer list(s) for Mellville and Farmingville. There should not be any driver that did not know about these lists, it was brought up at several pcm's at all start times, and I personally called anyone on vacation, comp, disability, taw, etc. I have copies of all request forms, I will distribute them asap.

I have not heard of a feeder list being compiled at this time.

Cover drivers, you have the right to bump a less senior employee from an assignment. If management does not permit this get me and I'll straighten it out. We are our own worst enemy when it comes to this, many drivers cry when they have to do a route they don't know. When I started 18 years ago I didn't know any routes either, I went out with a map and did the route. I'm tired of hearing the boss cry "needs of the company" and "he has area knowledge", how the hell is someone going to learn an area if the same guys do the same stuff all the time! Open assignments should be assigned by seniority, senior guy gets first pick, second senior next, and so on. Talk to someone else who's done the route before and get "set up" on it. Learn as many routes as you can this way as routes come up for bid you will know a little bit about it and know whether you want to bid on it.
